Intermediate Bellflower
Campanula intercedens
Overview
The Intermediate Bellflower (Campanula intercedens) is an herbaceous perennial native to the grassy areas of high mountain ranges in central Europe. Its robust stems, between 10-25 cm long, produce a profusion of bell-shaped flowers, usually pale blue with white twists around each petal. This flower has three sepals and three petals with a funnel-shaped corolla that hangs gracefully from the plant. Its foliage is also attractive; dark green, oval-shaped leaves. The Intermediate Bellflower does best in evenly moist, well-draining soils and prefers partial to full sun. With its striking flowers and neat, compact habit, it is an excellent summer plant to add to any garden.
