Thujopsis dolobrata

Hiba is a slow-growing evergreen conifer tree. It is native to Japan and is a popular ornamental garden tree due to its pleasing platy bark and unique umbrella-shaped foliage. It can grow to heights of 35-40 feet, with an equal spread. While it does best in areas with acidic soils and plenty of moisture, it is still tolerant of a variety of soil types. It has a moderate growth rate, and prefers a cool climate. Its blue-green foliage and red-brown bark create a striking contrast, adding texture and color to garden landscapes.
