Depauperate Rockcress
Boechera depauperata
Overview
Depauperate Rockcress is a striking flower species native to the western United States. A member of the Brassicaceae family, it features small, bright yellow mustard-like blooms which can cover the plant in abundance. This biennial or perennial produces flat rosettes of lightly-toothed, rounded, deep green leaves that mature to a purple-tinged color. It's an excellent choice for rock gardens, particularly in areas with well drained or dry soil, and can be grown from seed scattered directly into a prepared planting area in fall. Once established, it is both attractive and drought tolerant.
