Coneflowers (Echinacea 'Frankly Scarlet') are low-maintenance plants that thrive when given adequate watering. For best results, water 2 to 3 times a week with about 1 inch of water per session. When watering, water deeply and thoroughly to ensure the water soaks all the way to the roots. During the summer months, if the weather is hot, you may need to water more often, as frequent rains are not common. In winter months while your coneflower is dormant, reduce your watering to account for the decreased need for hydration.

Coneflower (Echinacea 'Frankly Scarlet') needs full sun for 6-8 hours per day. This sun exposure helps the plant to develop its deep roots and brightly colored blooms. It should be planted in a location that gets direct sunlight for the majority of the day. In areas that experience long summer days, Echinacea can tolerate some light afternoon shade. During particularly hot months, some additional afternoon shade may be beneficial for keeping the plant healthy and blooming.

Coneflower (Echinacea 'Frankly Scarlet') does not need a lot of pruning. In fact, it is best to let the plant go to seed and not cut it back. If you do need to prune, it should be done in the early spring before new growth appears. Remove any dead or dying stems and trim back any that are too tall or too big. Pruning should be limited to removing old dead stems and spent flowers as needed to keep the plant looking healthy and vigorous.
