Coneflower, also known as Echinacea 'Sunbird', is a species of perennial plant that is native to parts of North America. This species loves the sun and prefers at least 6 hours a day of direct sunlight. Depending on your climate and time of year, it is recommended to provide the flower with full sun for at least 4 to 6 hours from early morning to late afternoon. For optimal growth, coneflowers should be placed in a sunny, sheltered location and should be given partial shade in extreme heat. During the summer months, it is important to ensure that the flower receives full sun during the first few hours of the day when the air is cooler and less intense.

Coneflower (Echinacea 'Sunbird') should be pruned in the early spring once new growth appears. Pruning should involve removal of any dead or damaged stems and leaves, along with any weak or overcrowded stems. Be sure not to overdue it, however, as too much pruning may reduce flower production.
