Coreopsis SOLANNA GOLDEN SPHERE
Resumen
Tickseed, or Coreopsis Solanna Golden Sphere, is an amazing plant species due to its versatility and compact bushy habit. It can flower all summer until the first frost and is incredibly low-maintenance given its drought-tolerant nature. It thrives in any soil type, including clay, and handles polluted, coastal, and windy climates well. It produces stunning golden-yellow flowers in bold, spherical clusters. Its high resistance to diseases and pests make it an alluring choice for any garden. Its sturdy branching can reach heights up to 45 cm and is also deer-resistant. Tickseed is the perfect addition to borders and containers or can act as a groundcover.
Guía de cuidado
Riego
For Tickseed plants, it is best to water once a week, providing enough water to moisten the soil but not to the point of saturation. The amount of water will depend largely on your climate and the prevailing weather pattern. During normal summer weather, 1-2 inches of water every 7-10 days should be enough, while in hotter summer weather, 2-3 inches may be required. Throughout the winter, water once a month and up to twice a month, but use only minimal amounts. Once the plant stops blooming, decrease watering even further and make sure the soil is completely dry before watering again.
Luz
Tickseed (Coreopsis SOLANNA GOLDEN SPHERE) prefer plenty of sunlight throughout the day. For best growth and flowering, it is best to provide about 6 to 8 hours of direct sunlight daily. They will tolerate a partially shaded spot, but hours of direct sunlight must be minimal to keep the plant healthy and robust. If you have limited sunlight, you can place the plants near a south, east or west facing window or in a shady corner. This will allow them to receive enough sunlight throughout the day.
Temperatura
Hardiness zone 5–9.
Poda
Tickseed (Coreopsis Solanna Golden Sphere) should be pruned once a year in late winter or early spring before the plant begins to form buds and before new growth has begun. Prune it lightly by removing dead or dying branches and stems and cutting the remaining foliage back by about a third. This will encourage fuller growth and a bushier plant. Be sure to check the soil moisture often and water if needed. Pruning away some of the diseased branches and leaves can also reduce the risk of disease and pest infestations.
